About Lizz Cannon

Lizz Cannon is an immigration attorney specializing in successfully securing I-601 waivers and even reversing findings of inadmissibility to eliminate the need for a waiver. She specializes in untangling the complex legal and bureaucratic red tape that keeps families separated.

Lizz’s approach to immigration law is informed by a profound understanding of how policy affects real people. Prior to practicing law, she spent seven years as a community organizer for the Brazilian Immigrant Center, and collaborated with major labor and community advocacy organizations, including SEIU 615 in Boston and ACORN in New Orleans. These experiences grounded her in the systemic realities of immigration, driving home the reality that meaningful policy reform is deeply intertwined with international trade and global development.

This macro-level perspective led Lizz to focus intensely on international law during law school, all while balancing practical, hands-on experience as a paralegal. Her sophisticated legal background includes working on a high-stakes Guantánamo Bay defense case and analyzing international legal structures firsthand while studying law at a boutique firm in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.

Committed to global human rights and systemic justice, Lizz continues to study evolving international legal issues and regularly volunteers her time to represent humanitarian cases.
